Description
Suite Surrender is a fast-paced farce that lovingly satirizes the world of Golden Age Hollywood and the outsized personalities that defined it. Set in 1942 at the luxurious Palm Beach Royale Hotel, the play unfolds over the course of a single chaotic day as two aging Hollywood divas, Claudia McFadden and Athena Sinclair, arrive to perform in a wartime benefit for the U.S. troops, only to discover they have been booked into the same hotel suite. What follows is a whirlwind of mistaken identities, slamming doors, romantic entanglements, and increasingly absurd attempts to keep the women apart. At its heart, the play explores themes of ego, aging, and performance as Claudia and Athena have built their identities around fame and public image, and their rivalry reflects the deeper anxieties about relevance, desirability, and legacy.
